Strategy
Reddit’s advertising business continues to go from strength to strength as the community-based platform reports another quarter of significant growth.
Headline figures
- Advertising revenues grew 74% year-on-year to reach $549m in Q3; this follows growth of 61% in Q1 and 84% in Q2. (Read more in this analysis of Reddit’s ad revenue growth in comparison with X, Snapchat and Pinterest.)
- Total active advertiser count was up 75%, with new accounts being added across all business sizes.
- User growth continued at around 20% for both daily active uniques (now at 116 million) and weekly active uniques (now at 444 million).
- Reddit is now the #3 most-visited site in the US, per Semrush, October 2025.
What’s happening
- Reddit is investing in driving greater performance for advertisers, particularly for lower-funnel objectives like app installs and conversions, where ML-driven optimizations have improved performance outcomes by over 20%.
- New formats, such as conversation summary add-ons which let brands integrate positive Reddit conversations into ads, are delivering up to 15% higher click-through rates.
- Reddit’s consumer product strategy is focused on making the platform easier to use, including improving the onboarding experience, so that casual users become daily users, thereby improving retention.
- The platform is also investing strategically in brand campaigns and user marketing to drive awareness, acquisition and engagement.
Why Reddit matters
In a recent Platform Insights report, WARC Media notes that interactions on the platform are discussion-based, user content is non-performative, and a significant proportion of posts are recommendation-related – all of which is catnip to AI tools seeking answers to user queries.
Brands concerned about how they show up in search, which is moving rapidly from SEO to GEO, need to consider how they can build a presence on platforms like Reddit.
Key quote
“People come here to find trusted perspectives to participate in communities that share their interests, no matter how niche or mainstream, and increasingly to engage directly with brands, institutions and publishers” – Steve Huffman, co-founder and CEO at Reddit.
The WARC Podcast last month discussed what Reddit offers marketers in search of organic community and the latest episode discusses how to get ahead with GEO.
