Samsung says its Galaxy foldable smartphones shipped to businesses have more than doubled, with increasing interest from financial services organisations.

Samsung today announced the quantity of Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip smartphones sound globally to enterprises has more than doubled year on year. From January to October 2022, the company has seen foldable smartphone contracts increase by 105% compared to the same period in 2021.

Analysts expect foldable smartphone shipments to reach 16 million units worldwide, and 26 million in 2023. The form factor is becoming a mainstream option and provides greater multitasking capabilities, as well as application optimisations.

Samsung research finds 74% of financial advisors say staying connected via mobile apps is important or critical, especially with the new work-from-anywhere world we live in. As organisations and individuals look to tech for new ways to maximise productivity, foldable devices have particularly attracted the financial services industry.

“Samsung Galaxy foldable smartphones were created to open up opportunities for new ways to work and explore creativity,” said Samsung Electronics EVP head of global mobile B2B team, MX business KC Choi. “This rapid growth in investment demonstrates our enterprise customers’ need for meaningful innovations to enhance workforce productivity.”

The Galaxy Z Fold4 – Samsung’s fourth-generation foldable smartphone – is a multi-tasking powerhouse ideal for business use. Despite its pocket-friendly dimensions, it offers a large, expansive-sized screen, making it easier to get things done compared to some smaller traditional smartphone screens. The big screen provides opportunities to perform desktop-level work from the smaller device. Its taskbar also enables users to effortlessly manage, launch, and switch between apps without disrupting their work.

The huge screen space is also a natural fit for working with multiple windows. The Galaxy Z Fold4 can open up to three apps simultaneously, including two of the same for side-by-side comparisons. For example, users can respond to emails while viewing two web browser tabs, just like working at a desk with multiple screens.

The Galaxy Z Fold4 also adapts to workflow needs. Flex Mode not only provides a hands-free experience for significant video conferencing tools, but it can also now support dedicated e-signature or note-taking capabilities on partner apps using S Pen.

Financial services users say their devices must support complex workflows, including alerts, research, charts and portfolios, and give them the power and productivity advantage they need to stay competitive.

Apps that have been specially designed to take advantage of the Galaxy Z Fold’s unique form factor greatly enhance the user experience and help professionals perform familiar work in an enhanced way on their foldable devices. Such apps include the Bloomberg Professional app and DocuSign. DocuSign also supports Samsung DeX mode.

ENABLE HYBRID CLOUD & REDUCE NETWORK LATENCY WHITEPAPER

Hybrid cloud promises to bring together the best of both worlds enabling businesses to combine the scalability and cost-effectiveness of the cloud with the performance and control that you can get from your on-premise infrastructure.

Reducing WAN latency is one of the biggest issues with hybrid cloud performance. Taking advantage of compression and data deduplication can reduce your network latency.

Research firm, Markets and Markets, predicted that the hybrid cloud market size is expected to grow from US$38.27 billion in 2017 to US$97.64 billion by 2023.

Colocation facilities provide many of the benefits of having your servers in the cloud while still maintaining physical control of your systems.

Cloud adjacency provided by colocation facilities can enable you to leverage their low latency high bandwidth connections to the cloud as well as providing a solid connection back to your on-premises corporate network.
