Visitor internationality reached 86 per cent, with growth recorded from markets such as the United States, Switzerland, Denmark, Finland and Peru. A Stable Platform in Volatile Times
As global trade structures are recalibrated by tariff uncertainty and geopolitical risks, Heimtextil once again demonstrated its role as a trusted meeting point for the industry. Against this backdrop, Heimtextil provided clarity, transparency and access to new business opportunities, reinforcing its standing as a strategic partner for the global textile and interior design ecosystem.
Interior Design and Hospitality Drive Future Growth
Heimtextil 2026 placed strong emphasis on interior design and hospitality as key growth engines. As a global hub for textile and non-textile interior solutions, the fair showcased curated concepts for retail, contract and project-based applications.
The Heimtextil Trends 26/27, themed Craft is a verb, bridged traditional craftsmanship with AI-driven technologies, offering fresh impulses for design development and range planning. Designer and architect Patricia Urquiola brought these ideas to life through her installation among-all, which combined AI, material innovation and sustainability to demonstrate how textiles can respond to individual needs across design, retail and hospitality environments.
Alongside established studios, emerging talents presented experimental yet market-ready designs, reinforcing Heimtextil’s role as an international creative platform.
Contract Textiles and Project-based Solutions
Responding to growing demand for functional and performance-driven textiles, Heimtextil strengthened its focus on project-based interior solutions. The Interior.Architecture.Hospitality programme connected manufacturers, designers, planners and developers, highlighting how textiles can create differentiation across hospitality, office, healthcare and contract sectors.
Looking ahead, a new cooperation with Hospitality Interiors Europe (HINT) from 2027 will further expand Heimtextil’s offering for holistic interior concepts, particularly for high-end contract design, reinforcing Frankfurt’s position as a global hospitality hub.

AI as a Practical Business Enabler
Artificial intelligence emerged as a central theme across Heimtextil 2026, not as an abstract concept but as a practical business tool. Under the Texpertise Focus AI umbrella, the fair showcased how AI supports design visualisation, material development, data migration, operational efficiency and personalised customer engagement.
“Artificial intelligence is already part of economic reality – as a creative partner for design concepts and material visualisations, and as an efficient tool for data migration, day-to-day workflows and personalised customer engagement. Our aim is to make these concrete applications tangible and actionable for the industry,” said Olaf Schmidt, Vice President Textiles & Textile Technologies.
A Clear Message of Confidence
By combining high-level decision-making, global market access, design leadership and technology-driven solutions, Heimtextil 2026 delivered a clear message of confidence. In a period marked by uncertainty, the fair reinforced its relevance as a stable, forward-looking platform, encouraging the global textile industry to collaboratively shape its next phase of growth.
